women who inspire us

This year, for International Women’s Day, we gathered around the table with incredible women from our #humansofrixo community. Each guest brought someone, a woman who inspires them. Stories were shared. Connections made.

We invited them to interview each other, to go deeper. Into womanhood, female friendship, and the power of getting dressed to feel your best.

What is something you wish women felt more about themselves?

Georgette: “I wish women realised how much power they have. I wish women had insane confidence. To have the audacity to do anything they want to do. Women can do anything. They are incredible, and I wish more women felt that and didn’t feel like they had to shrink themselves or hide themselves.”

What’s an outfit that makes you feel like the best version of you?

Stephanie: “My very low-cut, brown polka dot crop top—because the girls look magnificent in them. They are sitting. It just gives me so much confidence, and it makes me feel so good about myself.”

Georgette: “And for me, it would be anything backless! I have a great back. I’ve got a lot of tattoos. Anytime I get to show the art of my tats, I love it.”

What does confidence mean to you?

Katherine: “Confidence to me looks like being completely yourself. It means that you are frank—you’re honest, even when it comes to uncomfortable truths. You accept yourself no matter what, and you never pretend. I think that’s the key to it.”

When do you feel the most like yourself?

Gem: “When I’m with my girlfriends, my children… I feel most myself when I’m with friends, cooking food, drinking wine –

Katherine: So, when you’re ensconced in the community, basically.

Gem: Yeah!”

“When I want to feel confident,
I always go for an accessory that makes me feel good.”

What does success mean to you?

Verona: “Success to me is getting an opportunity and feeling really grateful for it and excited about it—not letting the stress of opportunities take away the joy. You know, just being able to walk into a room that you yourself, three years ago, would have found really exciting, and being able to enjoy it.”

What would you tell your younger self?

Rosie: “I would tell my younger self that it’s going to be hard, but not to be afraid of taking up space and to just follow your gut!”

When do you feel most like yourself?

Sophie: “The honest answer – and it’s going to sound cheesy– but it’s when I’m wearing RIXO! The Penelope dress was my very first, but I’ve bought lots of pieces over the years, along with lots of vintage. I’ve got a young daughter and she’s getting really interested in my closet. Hopefully one day I’m going to be able to pass everything on to her.”

What’s your favourite thing about your friendship with Louise?

Billie: “She’s the most incredible person I’ve ever met. She’s one of my biggest safe spaces. She sees me wholeheartedly—flaws and all! There’s no one I enjoy spending time with more. She makes me feel so comfortable and at peace.”

“It’s been amazing to meet such an inspiring mix of women. We loved hearing how RIXO has played a key role in their lives and seeing them style their pieces in their own unique way.”
